Let’s Get Real: Most People Don’t Know What They Want

If you walked into a mall and asked 10 people what they really want out of life—most wouldn’t be able to tell you. You’d hear things like:

“I’m not sure.”
“I’ve never thought about it.”
“I don’t really know.”

And therein lies the problem: uncertainty kills destiny.

As service-based entrepreneurs, coaches, and purpose-driven leaders, this lack of clarity is the invisible enemy. You can’t build a six or seven-figure business—or a fulfilling life—if you’re unclear on what you’re even building.

“Write the vision and make it plain...” – Habakkuk 2:2
If you don’t design it, you’ll drift. And if you drift, you’ll drown in distractions.

Why Don’t Most People Know What They Want?

We are highly intelligent beings. With the right intention, we can literally create anything. Just look around: phones, apps, airplanes, empires.

But most people won’t do the mental lifting required to create clarity. Why?

Because clarity requires focused thought. And focused thought requires time, silence, and discipline—things we often trade for scrolling, swiping, and staying busy.

Here’s the Faith-Based Truth:

God gave you dominion—authority to create, choose, and design.
But most people give that dominion away by defaulting to whatever life throws at them.

If you want to grow your business, deepen your relationships, get healthy, or walk in full abundance, you have to get radically clear on what that looks like.

How to Decide What You REALLY Want

Grab a pen and paper. Go old-school with this—it matters.

Draw a line down the middle. On the left, write “What I Don’t Want.” On the right, write “What I Do Want.”

Now reflect on every key area of your life:

• 💰 Finances (How much do you want to earn?)

• 💼 Career or Business (What kind of work energizes you?)

• ❤️ Relationships (What do you desire in your marriage, family, or friendships?)

• 💪🏽 Health (What kind of body and vitality do you want?)

• 🙏🏾 Spiritual life (What kind of connection with God are you seeking?)

• 🕒 Time Freedom (How many hours a week do you want to work?)

Don’t worry about the how—just focus on the what.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” — Psalm 37:4

If you’re earning $30,000 per year and want more, write:

But before I give you an example, let's clarify a couple things first. Most people use their words unwisely, but not you. They say things like I want this, or I don't want that. The problem here is the word want is a double entendre, which means it has multiple meanings. Instead to get what we want, we must eat from the fruits of our lips; in other words, the words we speak create our world. Therefore, we use the word I desire this or that.

Now on with the example.

• ❌ I don’t want to earn only $30K

• ✅ I desire to earn $100K+ while serving people I love Or if you’re tired of feeling out of shape:

• ❌ I don’t want to feel tired and sluggish every day

• ✅ I desire to feel strong, energized, and 20 pounds lighter

This is the first step in activating the law of clarity—and faith without clarity is just chaos in disguise.

Your Future Is Too Important to Wing It

This isn’t fluff. This is about spiritual stewardship and business maturity. If you don’t decide what you want, the world will decide for you—and that’s a sure path to burnout.
